Surfix is specialized in surface modification (via nanocoatings) during the production of biosensors. This surface modification ensures that biomolecules can adhere. Developments in biosensor technologies mean that biomarkers for diseases such as cancer can be detected. Surfix has developed a coating that can be used to improve the sensitivity and detection limit of photonic biosensors and at the same time reduce unwanted biofoulding (unwanted, non-specific adsorption), and this can be relatively easily adapted to the relevant biosensor. Surfix would like to introduce this coating to more companies and institutions, creating the demand to find out more about which (international) companies and institutions are working on the biosensors for which Surfix offers nanocoatings.
The aim of the project is therefore to get an overview of potential new customers for Surfix. These can be companies or institutions that are currently developing photonic biosensors or companies that would like to do so in the future. The student consultant will conduct (online) market research into companies/institutions that are or might be interested in producing biosensors. The student consultant will prepare an overview and collect the contact details. The student consultant will also spend a day at Surfix to ask questions to get a clearer picture of the work of the company and to get a picture of the type of companies Surfix is looking for.
